Black Belt Grading Information

The Black Belt Grading, this page is dedicated to providing parents and students the relevant information to help them towards their journey to Black Belt.  

Black Belt Gradings are held every 6 months at Helidon Lakes Hotel in Daventry, Northamptonshire. NN11 6GG

The Grading fee is £170 for Black Belt 1st Degree

This years Black Belt grading dates are

25th, 26th and 27th April 2025

24th, 25th and 26th October 2025

You will only grade on one of the days not all 3

Prior to these dates you must have held a valid TAGB licence and not let it expire.  You must also have attended the pre black belt training sessions (1 every 6 months from the Red Belt grade) When its your time to grade for Black Belt or Dan grade you must attend all 3 sessions prior to either the April or October grading. For example - my next grade is 8th Dan and I have to wait 8 years for my grade therefore I will do one of the pre grade sessions every 6 months then when its my turn to grade I will do all 3 pre grading sessions leading upto the grading. 

You must also be training regularly, ideally twice a week or having Private lessons to help bring you to the standard required for the grading.  There will be 5 Grand Masters examining the students. 

For the grading you must be wearing a White TAGB uniform, the correct belt and know all the required syllabus.

The next pre grading sessions are  - 

Saturday 6th September 2025. (this session is an exam to see if you are ready to grade, if you don't pass this then you will have to wait until October to grade)

10am - 11am: Kup grades / 11:00am to 12:00 noon: All Dan grades

Saturday 20th September 2025. 

 Burgess Hill Leisure Centre.  Triangle Way. Burgess Hill.  West Sussex RG42 2LN

 12pm - 1pm: Kup grades / 1pm to 2pm: All Dan grades

Saturday 4h October 2025. 

Garth Hill College, Bull Lane, Bracknell RG42 2LN

 10am - 11am: Kup grades / 11:00am to 12:00 noon: All Dan grades

These sessions are £10.00 per session if you aren't doing the Black Belt grading and Free if you are grading.

Only white TAGB doboks can be worn at these sessions and take sparring equipment.

If you are thinking of grading,you will need to email/text me an upto date photo and send me your height in cms.  This needs to be sent 2 weeks prior to the 1st pre grading session(mock Grading) so I can prepare an assessment form for this.
